Louisiana Heroes Scholarship Fund

Never worry about numbers, help one person at a time and always start with the person nearest you. – Mother Teresa

The Louisiana Heroes’ Scholarship Fund provides college and vocational school tuition for the children of Louisiana’s teachers, coaches, law enforcement officers, and first responders. Scholarships are awarded annually to Louisiana students based on merit and financial need. Entirely funded by a percentage of Scott’s fees from successful cases, the fund has provided over $75,000 in scholarships over the past six years.

The fund was founded by Scott Chafin in honor of grandparents and parents who all are lifetime public servants. Joining Scott on the Louisiana Heroes’ Scholarship Fund Board is attorney Ethan Arbuckle and judge Santi Parks.

Annual Clay Shoot for Operation Bright Holiday

Each year, in conjunction with the North Louisiana Federal Bar Association, Scott Chafin hosts a sporting clay shoot to benefit Operation Bright Holiday. This organization helps first-year enlisted airmen at Barksdale Air Force Base, stationed far from home, travel to be with their families during the holidays. Over the past 12 years, the clay shoot has raised more than $100,000, enabling hundreds of servicemen to spend the holidays with their loved ones.

Special thank you to Judge Maury Hicks, Magistrate Judge Mark Hornsby, Chris Slatten, and everyone at the Western District, Shreveport Division for their involvement and support of the North Louisiana Federal Bar Association and Operation Bright Holiday.

For information on how to sign-up for the 13th Annual Shoot in 2025, email scott at schafin@scottchafinlaw.com.

Louisiana State Troopers Association

In 2024, Scott Chafin became a Guardian of the Louisiana State Troopers Association, reflecting his commitment to supporting the men and women who serve as Louisiana State Troopers. The LSTA is a nonprofit organization that represents nearly all commissioned officers and a significant portion of retirees in the Louisiana State Police. Guardians play a vital role in sustaining efforts that improve working conditions, advocate for fair pay, and enhance the quality of life for troopers and their families.

Supporting the LSTA as a Guardian aligns with Scott’s mission to protect, serve, and uplift both law enforcement personnel and the broader community. There are only 20 Guardians throughout the state and Scott is honored to serve among them.
